The
First Gospel Sermon Ever Delivered

Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel."
This is the first gospel message that was ever delivered on the face of the earth, the preacher was God. The audience were the whole human race and the prince of darkness.
When did the gospel begin? New Testament? Gospel word not in the O.T. But the concept is there.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
O.T saints were saved by faith in God; they were looking forward to the Messiah. Center of the gospel is Jesus Christ, the entire Bible is centered on Him. He is the good news to the fallen man.
Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Serpent would have been an animal that walked and probably very beautiful. Satan used the serpent as his instrument to communicate to the woman. It looks like Satan triumph and all the demons rejoiced at the fall of man, as they were able to deceive God’s crown of creation.
Paradise was turned in to hell. Adam was a supreme ruler of the earth. But very soon, slave to Satan.
Enjoyed living in paradise for a very short time, then Man was condemned to death. Torment of hell was just around the corner.
No wonder why Adam hid from the presence of God.
Ge 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.
Adam where art thou?
There is majesty and power in the voice of God. This is not another voice but the voice of the Creator, the voice of the majestic God, the voice of the infinite holy God, his voice is powerful and most fearful to those live in sin. The voice of God is the manifestation of his presence. It is the voice of the Judge and he summons the guilty to give an account.
The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. (Ps 29:4)
Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
God who gave the law to Adam is also the Judge of the universe. He is infallible in knowledge and soon after the fall, the Judge arrested the criminals. God did not ask the serpent why he deceived the woman but immediately sentenced him. Read Gen 3:11-14
Satan was already convicted previously of his rebellion against God, the devil and his fallen angels were not pardoned, now they deceived God’s crown of creation.
Principal agent of seduction was Satan, instrument was the serpent. The devils instrument must share the punishment. The law said, even the ox that killed a man must be stoned. (Exodus 21:28-29) This is how God hates sin. The serpent could have been a beautiful animal that walked and now sentenced to crawl on its belly for life. See Ps 44:25 an expression of the miserable condition.
Sin turned angels into devils and now when sin entered mankind there is enmity. The woman who probably liked this serpent now there was an antipathy, meaning a strong hostility and anger.
God said, “Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman” Who put enmity? God himself did it. For the first time Satan introduced sin into the world and found a way to multiply sin to all mankind. But now, God comes in; he is going to take this quarrel personally with the devil. This quarrel is not going to be between the devil and man but God and the devil.
God said, “Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
These are prophetic words. This is the dawning of the gospel. The first announcement of the gospel. The first announcement of the Messiah, the Christ. There are two seeds and two offspring coming, the devils offspring and the woman’s offspring. Out of the woman’s seed will come the children of God. Out of the woman’s seed came the messiah. Devil’s seed or his offspring are all who are born of the flesh and the woman’s offspring are all who are born of the spirit. Only the children of the promise are counted for Eve’s seed. There is a contrast between the woman’s seed and the seed of the serpent. Jesus Christ is the eminent seed of the woman, he is the great seed of the woman. Through this seed will come the Messiah, the Christ, redemption. There will be enmity between the two offspring, then it becomes personal fight, head to head where Jesus will bruise Satan’s head and Satan will bruise Jesus heel. Satan deceived the woman and Christ will use a virgin woman to enter this world to battle against the devil.
Mt 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one.
Ro 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Pr 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
Ge 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
She was mistaken, first man was a murderer. God promised Abraham, his seed, his offspring will be like the dust of the earth. Abraham was wrong too as he thought Ishmael was the seed but it was Isaac. Jacob was wrong when he thought the blessings should go to Esau but the seed was going to come not from Esau but through Jacob. Samuel was wrong when he thought the seed will come through Jesse’s oldest son Eliab but it was through David the youngest son of Jesse. Luke trace down the genealogy of Jesus and goes all the way to Adam, to show how the seed came from Adam.
Lu 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.
These two offspring will have enmity. There was enmity at the very beginning when Cain murdered his brother Abel. There was enmity between Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau. Since the very beginning of the fall the unbelievers are at war with the believers. They persecuted the prophets, tortured and killed the true believers. We can see how this prophecy is fulfilled in the Bible and even in our day, Christians are hated by the world.
Re 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Joh 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
Ac 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jo 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Ga 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
1Jo 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
Jesus went to the very root when he addressed the false religious leaders of his day, he used the root terminology.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar.
Mt 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Immediately after the fall, Christ took the office of the mediator, between the offended God and sinful man. God himself killed and animal and clothed Adam and Eve, here we see God shedding the blood of an innocent animal to cloth man, covering their nakedness. Shedding of blood continues all the way through the O.T until Christ himself comes and sheds his blood and clothed us with his righteousness. Christ appeared to man in the O.T as our mediator as Christ work began soon after the fall, these were the advance preparations for cross, advance preparations before the head to head battle with the devil.
“He shall bruise your head, and you shall
bruise his heel."
The promise was a gracious one. The deliverer, a champion will come from the fallen man, how can this be. When the angel appeared to Mary and told her that the Son of the Highest will give birth to her, she was amazed and asked, “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?”
Ps 40:7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.
Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
1Jo 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
Joh 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Ro 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Lu 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshdow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Ga 4:4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Christ Jesus was born of the virgin. Adam violated the law and the result was the curse of God, but Christ fulfilled the broken law, he made atonement for sin by removing the curse. God’s justice was poured upon Christ.
Ga 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
On that memorable night in Bethlehem, the seed of the woman appeared, angels sang in heaven.
The Devil began to fight right away. Satan used Herod if possible to kill the newborn baby.
After thirty years when Jesus publicly came to start his ministry, the devil met him again head to head in the wilderness.
The Lord setup his kingdom and carried the war into the enemy’s own territory. Cast of demons as legions of demons fled before him.
Lu 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
There was a personal conflict in Gethsemane.
Lu 22:53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
Satan fought to lead Christ away from completing the great sacrifice, here our beloved Master prayed and sweat dropped as it were great drops of blood.
Then our Captain of the host, our champion began the last fight, it was done publicly. Satan bruised our Master’s heal, on the cross, he used Herod, Pilate, Caiaphas, the Jews and the Romans all of them as his tools, to crucify our Master but God allowed it to happen as it pleased the Father to bruise him as all our sins were poured upon him.
But our Champion rose again on the third day as he gave a blow to Satan, he bruised his head. Jesus was triumphant and had victory over Satan as he conquered death.
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
The conflict of our battle continues as we preach Christ crucified and every sermon shakes the gates of hell, we bring sinners who are in devil’s hands to Christ by the power of the gospel.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Re 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone.
Ps 102:27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. 28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
Oh my friend I pray that God will have mercy upon you and his divine life will come to your soul, this word of God, that you will repent before God as apostle Peter said, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1Pe 1:23)
You will begin to hate sin, flee from sin and flee into the bosom of Christ for mercy.
