Crucifixion of Christ Jesus was planned before the foundations of the world.

By Nick Bibile

We saw previously throughout eternity God had a plan for salvation of man, and Christ was the center of that salvation. Today we are going to see the crucifixion of Christ in that plan.

Please look for the word DETERMINED, APPOINTMENT OR DECREED

Luke 22:22  For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

Our English word determined means already fixed in the mind, decided. The Greek word for determined here is ὡρισμένον (hōrismenon) meaning appointed, determined, purposed, decreed. Translators could have used any of those words.

So what Jesus is saying here is going to the cross was already being decreed or determined.

We need to understand God did not make a decision of sending his Son to the cross after the fall of Adam, God doesn’t think as man thinks. We do not know what will happen tomorrow and we make changes when plan A fails, we go to plan B. But God always had only one eternal plan. We can see as things happen, but God sees from the end to the beginning, beloved we have an awesome powerful God.

Isaiah 46:10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’

Let’s go back and see the crucifixion of our Savior happened according to God’s plan.

Acts 2:23  this Jesus,  delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

Jesus' statement in Luke and Peter’s statement in Acts  we have absolute evidence the cross of Christ was planned throughout eternity. Remember Ephesians 3:11 as this was done according to God’s eternal purpose….

The New Testament church  confessed  in Acts 4:24-30 in prayer how they crucified Jesus, see Acts 4:28

Ephesians 3:21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Acts 4:28 to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.

It was God’s eternal plan, predestined to happen.  So beloved, we learn from these verses, the painful agonizing crucifixion of Christ was the most important, essential part of God’s plan.

Who would allow his son to undergo a painful, mockery of a crucifixion? It was easy for God to prevent it but without the crucifixion we all would have ended up in hell for eternity. How we need to thank God from the bottom of our hearts for his love for the believing sinners, now through Christ we are saved.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
